Audition Options:
Students have two options for their band audition:
  1. Live Audition – Monday, March 31, 2025, in the Pope Band Room.
    • Students choosing this option must sign up for a time slot: Sign-Up Link
      • If any time slots run out, please email Mr. Sodders: matthew.sodders@cobbk12.org 
  2. Virtual Audition – Submission deadlines listed below.

  • If a student does not want to audition, that’s okay! They will be placed in the Pope Concert Band automatically.

The Pope High School Band Program offers a comprehensive and dynamic music education experience, centered around its core Concert Bands (Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony). From this foundation, students have opportunities to participate in a variety of ensembles and activities, including Marching Band, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Color Guard, Winter Guard, and Chamber Ensembles. Additional enrichment comes through Honor Bands, Private Lessons, and performances like the Xplosion Concert, fostering well-rounded musicianship. With a combination of curricular offerings during the school day and extra-curricular programs that extend beyond, Pope Bands provide students with a pathway to excellence in performance, leadership, and artistic expression.

FINE ARTS DIPLOMA SEAL

 

Students who participate in the Pope High School Band Program are eligible to earn the Georgia Fine Arts Diploma Seal, a prestigious recognition awarded to graduates who demonstrate exceptional achievement in the fine arts. Through their involvement in concert ensembles, marching band, jazz band, percussion ensemble, color guard, and other musical opportunities, students fulfill the requirements of advanced coursework, performance, and community engagement in the arts. This distinction highlights their dedication to music education and can enhance college applications and career opportunities in the arts.

ENROLLMENT PROCESS

Middle School students will enroll into your high school elective courses via a Microsoft Form, completed during school hours. 

 

  1. Select your TOP-5 Elective Classes (1 being your highest selection)
  2. Band must appear as either choice 1 or 2 to be enrolled in band class
    1. There are no class caps for band. 
    2. You will earn a credit towards your high school diploma by being in a band class. 

CLASS BAND AUDITION PROCESS

There are 3-parts to our Class Band Audition:

  1. Scales
    1. Major Scales
    2. Chromatic Scale
  2. Etude
    1. Etudes (PDF's) will be posted to this portal. 
  3. Sight-Reading

Middle School students are able to submit all audition files via video submission or a live audition. 

Auditions are due before Spring Break each school year.
